back at night by the snowy Alps, home, Ptit Suisse said:
- In two years you will need to go back to Turin, and then after the Beppino Occelli cheese and wine ...
- Why? - I asked, sleepy voice.
- Well, how, why? But I was born the tradition - Salone del Gusto !
fact, I'm asking stupid questions ... probably from overeating;)
Every two years, Turin turns into a Mecca of gourmets and gourmands, who besiege the city within 5 days of the International Salon of Taste organized by Slow Food association . The main goal of the association and at the same time a social movement is the focus of people interested in the protection of traditional cuisine of different regions of the world, and hence agricultural crops, seeds, livestock and farm management methods characteristic of the regions.
Slow Food Association was founded by Carlo Petrini, a journalist and critic of the food service in 1986. Not without reason the movement was born in Italy, and more specifically in Piedmont, where the food is not only fun, but most of all culture.
During Exhibition can be found countless chefs, oenologists, restaurateurs, farmers, producers, farmers, and nutrition experts, who with a smile talk about their passion.
Salon takes place in five great halls of the former Fiat factory. This year, the two largest halls were occupied by the Italian regions. One, a smaller, housed under one roof representatives of the international Slow Food movement. What can I say, the international hall still falls quite pale at the Italian offer. But I am hopeful, because four years ago, everybody, except the Italians, they were practically invisible.
Body is filled with visitors at 11 am to close its doors at the 23rd We have, therefore, 12 hours, which is spent on tasting, tasting, eating, drinking and buying. It is advisable to obtain a large bag on wheels, comfortable shoes, and preparation of supporting digestion ... I recommend it to give up breakfast and did not book the restaurant for dinner:)
During the festival, you can participate in paid workshops tasting - Laboratori del Gusto , which are held four times daily in Italian and English. We can also look at the work of great mistrów during Teatro del Gusto .
This year we decided to give one more chance Sicilian wines . Unfortunately, taste workshops, tasting four confirmed our belief that the Sicilian wine producers have still had a long way to go ...
first day, late in the evening we got on to a tasting of beers , cheeses and confectionery organized by the Piedmont Region . We did not have the slightest doubt that the cheeses are superb. The great surprise was the great tasting beers produced in the province of Cuneo. But never suspected that I'd ever write that I ate the best panettone in the world. Here a small correction - despite the fact that I love love all the dough-blind, panettone has never accounted for my taste, and ate them in the life of a few, some were regarded by experts, for a revelation. I did not taste, because every time I sensed a strange, chemical aftertaste ...
If after 10 hours of trying najróżniejszch goodies I found the cake panettone Le Delizia * with Fassa, the food I could not see. I tried with the momentum and ... once ate three large pieces, and were it not that we had to go back to the hotel, the three I did not stop;)
And now I invite you to stroll through the Salon of Taste 2010 and I ... I'm going to lose weight:)
